Karnataka Ranji Trophy captain Mayank Agarwal received a medical clearance and is set to make a return in the ongoing edition of the tournament. Agarwal was rushed for medical surveillance after he drank poisonous liquid mistaking it for water during a fight. The 32-year-old was kept in the ICU after he felt a burning sensation in his mouth and throat following the incident. Agarwal was monitored by the medical team and officials from the Tripura Cricket Association.
Due to the health scare, Agarwal missed Karnataka’s match against the Railways. During his latest medical inspection, the Indian cricketer was cleared of any medical hazard, clearing the ground for his comeback to the team. In his absence, Nikin Jose shouldered the duties of captain. According to ESPNcricinfo, the opening batter said that he is fit and fine. Agarwal told ESPN, "I am fit and fine and there were no major issues.”
