A day after reports flooded social media of Prithvi Shaw leaving Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) in order to revive his cricketing career, recent reports have confirmed that he has been granted the No-Objection Certification (NOC). It is to be noted that the 25-year-old had informed his state association to leave MCA and was looking to shift to a new team.

As per the latest development, Shaw has been granted a NOC by MCA and is all set to join the Maharashtra state team. Going back to Shaw’s decision, his move came after a rough patch with the Mumbai team, which saw him being dropped midway through the season due to fitness concerns last year.

Prithvi Shaw likely to join Maharashtra; to open alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad

“Prithvi Shaw has been exceptional talent and has contributed significantly to Mumbai cricket. We respect his decision and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” MCA Secretary Abhay Hadap confirmed Shaw’s move. "MCA acknowledges and appreciates Prithvi's contributions over the years and extends best wishes for his continued success" Hadap added.

Although, the Maharashtra Cricket Association is yet to confirm Shaw’s arrival, speculations stated that he will join Ruturaj Gaikwad in the opening slot. If these reports are to be believed true, the pairing could not only add firepower to Maharashtra batting lineup but also provide to Shaw, a stability to bring back his career on track.

Notably, Shaw played 32 first-class matches for Mumbai, scoring 2,648 runs at an average of 49.03, including seven centuries and ten half-centuries. He has also featured in 29 List A games for the state side.
