After securing their core in pre-signings, the six teams owned by IPL franchises are engaging in a thrilling battle to rope in quality players, featuring 248 South African and 252 overseas players. MI Cape Town, owned by Reliance Jio - the owner of IPL's most successful franchise Mumbai Indians signed the likes of Kagiso Rabadda, Dewald Brevis, Rashid Khan, Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone before coming to the auction. With the remaining purse of Rs. 17 million, MI Cape Town opened their account by securing the services of top-order batter Rassie van der Dussen for a whopping Rs 3.90 million.
