The battle for the top four is now getting intense with each passing game in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In one of the last double-header Sundays in the IPL 2025, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala in an evening match on Sunday, May 4.

But ahead of their 11th match in the league stage, the Shreyas Iyer-led side have been boosted by the addition of Mitchell Owen. The Punjab-based franchise have added the Australian batter as a replacement of Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was ruled out of the season with afractured finger. The same was confirmed at the toss during CSK vs PBKS clash when Shreyas Iyer said, “It’s very unfortunate that he’s got a fractured finger.”

Mitchell Owen to join PBKS after PSL 2025 stint with Peshawar Zalmi

On Sunday, the PBKS confirmed Maxwell’s replacement as they roped in Mitchell Owen, who is reckoned as one of the most exciting short-format batters over the last few months. Moreover, the Aussie batter will join PBKS at the end of his stint with Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025.

“Mitch Owen will join PBKS for INR 3 Crore,” the IPL confirmed in its statement. It is to be noted that Mitch Owen has so far played 34 T20s and scored 646 runs, including two centuries and a highest score of 108. Moreover, the Aussie batting all-rounder also has 10 wickets to his name in T20 cricket.
