In what could be a big development in Pakistan cricket, it is now being reported that pacer Mohammad Amir could make a comeback to international cricket. Such a development could happen if the current Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raza quits his position.

Notably, the news of Amir making a possible return to Pakistan cricket comes after several reports had linked Najam Sethi's name for the PCB Chairman's position. All these developments happen as an aftermath of the political developments in Pakistan where former cricket captain turned politician Prime Minister Imran Khan was expelled as the leader after he lost a no-confidence motion.

"I am leaving cricket for now because I’m being mentally tortured. I don’t think I can bear such torture. I’ve borne lots of torture from 2010 to 2015, for which I served my time. I’ve been tortured by being told the PCB invested a lot in me," Amir had said while announcing his retirement.

The left-arm pacer Amir is only 29-years-old and has already had a journey full of ups and downs. While as a teenager, he was touted as the next big thing in international cricket, his involvement in the fixing scandal led him to serve a sentence after which he made a comeback only to retire citing differences with the team management.

Amir has represented Pakistan in 61 ODI and 50 T20Is and has also played 36 Test matches, a format from which he announced retirement earlier itself. In these fixtures, he has 81, 59 and 119 scalps in ODIs, T20Is and Test cricket respectively. His last international match was against England in Manchester in August 2020.
