Mohit Sharma, the former purple cap winner in the Indian Premier League, made his triumphant return to the tournament after a three-year long absence in the Gujarat Titans jersey. On May 23, while playing the Qualifier 1 for GT against CSK at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the 34-year-old bowler was able to dismiss MS Dhoni for one run.

Ever since that moment, Mohit Sharma’s social media has been flooded with hateful comments from people who claim themselves to be MSD fans, but in reality, they are not worthy of being called as cricket fans. Many users on Twitter took to their accounts to share screenshots of the vilest things said to Sharma in the aftermath of Dhoni dismissal.

Looking back at the Chennai Super Kings versus Gujarat Titans encounter at Chepauk, it was an exciting contest between two quality sides for most of Tuesday night. Hardik Pandya, the captain of GT, won the toss and decided to field first. His decision was ideal as CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway built a very impressive partnership of 87 runs in 10.3 overs.

The Titans pulled back the innings well in the second half, but still, the Super Kings got to 172/7 score in their allotted 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a magnificent 60 off 44 on a tough batting pitch.

Meanwhile, during their run chase, Gujarat Titans batting lineup never really looked in control. The prolific partnership of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill was broken early by CSK, which put the breaks on the scoring. The spinners from Chennai were outstanding with the ball, especially Ravindra Jadeja, who picked up figures of 2-18 in his four overs to ensure that the Titans get bowled out for the first-time in their IPL history.

With the 15-run win, Chennai Super Kings have reached the Indian Premier League final for the record tenth time in their 14th appearance. For the summit clash on May 28, they will await the winner of Qualifier 2, which will be played between Gujarat Titans versus Lucknow Super Giants or Mumbai Indians.
