When MSD announced his retirement from international  cricket

One thing that Dhoni fans never liked to talk about was his retirement and the worst nightmare of every MSDian was that their Thala would announce retirement without a farewell match. Well, their nightmare came true when their beloved cricketer announced that he has called it quits on international cricket on August 15, 2020.

What broke everyone’s heart was that they couldn’t see their favourite captain play for the last time in Blue Jersey. Captain Cool, as they call him, is known for his unconventional methods and subtle off-the-field life.

He chose the same back then and announced his retirement on Instagram by uploading a video with his favourite song, “Main pal do pal ka shayar hoon.” The ‘finisher’ captioned the video, "Thanks a lot for your love and support throughout. From 1929hrs consider me as retired.”

The news spread viral like wildfire and within minutes of the announcement, #ThankYouMahi started trending on social media, where millions of his devotees paid their tributes and thanked him for his contribution to Indian cricket.
