MS Dhoni is back with the Indian team. Although Mahi remains one of India's favourite cricket captains, he will be seen in a different capacity this time around as the mentor of the Men in Blue. While Dhoni recently led the Chennai Super Kings to their record fourth title, away from the cricket field, Dhoni is expected to play a key role in Team India's strategy and preparation for the ICC event.

Prior to India's warm-up matches and their first match against arch-rivals against Pakistan in October at the Dubai International Stadium, Dhoni has now joined Team India.

Earlier, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had confirmed that Dhoni is not charging a single rupee for his services at the T20 World Cup.

"MS Dhoni is not charging any honorarium for his services as the mentor of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup," Shah was quoted as saying in an ANI report.

Virat Kohli, Ravi Shastri have failed to lead India to wins in ICC tournaments

While Virat Kohli and Ravi Shashtri have had a reasonably successful stint with India, the fact remains that they have not been able to take India to glory in an ICC tournament. Perhaps this could have had a bearing on the decision to include Dhoni in the dressing room for a pressure tournament like World Cup since he is the last skipper to lead India to ICC glory and the only Indian captain to have won the T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Virat has already announced his decision to step down as the captain of the T20I side post the conclusion of the world event. He later also stepped down as the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore and cited workload management as the reason behind the same.

Rohit Sharma likely to replace Virat Kohli at the helm in T20 cricket

Although there is no confirmation as yet, it is expected that Rohit Sharma could replace Kohli at the helm in T20 cricket. While Virat's stint as captain of RCB ended without a title, Rohit has led the Mumbai Indians to five trophies and is set to continue as the captain of the team in the coming years.

The Hitman has also had a successful stint with Team India whenever led the team in Kohli's absence. But for now the two of them would look to lead the Team to T20 World Cup glory across Oman and UAE.
