While former India captain MS Dhoni enjoys massive popularity in Tamil Nadu mainly due to his association with the Chennai Super Kings, the "Thala" is now set to become a producer and he has reportedly chosen a Tamil project to begin his new innings. The four-time IPL winning-skipper with Chennai has apparently joined hands with Nayanthara who could be seen playing the female lead in Dhoni's debut venture in Kollywood.
In addition, it is being reported that the film will get on the floors later this month. Notably, Dhoni is not the first Indian cricketer to try his hand in Tamil movies as earlier former cricketer Harbhajan Singh was also seen in a cameo appearance in the movie Dikkiloona.
For now, Dhoni is leading the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022 in what has been a tough season for the Men in Yellow. In the absence of several of their first-choice players who are out injured, Chennai are struggling this season and are at the ninth place with 4 wins from 11 matches.
However, they are still not out of the Playoffs race and would have to win their remaining games and depend on the result of the other matches to go in their favour for them to seal a place in the business end of the tournament. Chennai Super Kings will take on Mumbai Indians in the second El Clasico of the season on Thursday. This will be a huge game for Chennai who want nothing but a win.
Mumbai, on the other hand, are already out of the Playoffs contention. However, they could be a perfect party spoiler at this stage with some dangerous players in their ranks and a few quality players yet to find peak form. Moreover, the match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium which is their home ground and where they could be a serious force to reckon with despite only 2 wins from their 11 matches this season.
