On Monday, April 14, former IPL winners and one of the joint most successful teams in the cash-rich, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finally returned to winning ways, beating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the own backyard by five wickets in IPL 2025. However, CSK did struggle at one point of time to, but an unbeaten stand from Shivam Dube (43*) and MS Dhoni (26*) helped the five-time champions finish on the other side.
In pursuit of the 167-run target, MS Dhoni played a quickfire knock of unbeaten 26 during his 11-ball stay, hitting at a strike rate of 236.36. The 43-year-old, who is the oldest serving captain in the tournament history, also inflicted three dismissals, including a stumping. During his stay on the field, what caught the attention of the fans along with his performance was fitness concerns.

The veteran wicketkeeper-batter was seen limping as he went for a run with Shivam Dube in the middle. Moreover, concerns raised as he was seen limping while exiting the stadium premises. Although, he didn’t look in visible pain, but the limp was noticeable and enough for fans to raise concerns on the fitness issue of the 42-year-old.

It is to be noted that MS Dhoni returned at helm for CSK with Ruturaj Gaikwad getting ruled out due to an elbow injury. However, CSK have roped in Ayush Mhatre as Gaikwad’s replacement, they will hope for their season to turn from hereon, hoping to earn a qualification in the final four in IPL 2025.
