NBA 2K24, the most recent game in the well-known basketball video game series, will allow online multiplayer play for the first time between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles by using the crossplay feature. Players from several platforms can participate in the same online matches or modes thanks to the feature called cross-play. With titles like Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, Rocket League, and Minecraft supporting it, its popularity has grown over the past several years.
Greg Thomas, the president of Visual Concepts, the company behind NBA 2K24, confirmed the cross-play feature in an interview with ESPN. He claimed that cross-play was one of the things that the community had sought for NBA 2K24, along with a technological advance.
Additionally, the cross-play function was hinted at in a leaked clip featuring NBA 2K24 cover star Kobe Bryant playing with other NBA stars on other consoles. According to the trailer, cross-play will only be available on new-generation consoles, leaving out the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
On September 8, 2023, NBA 2K24 will probably be made available on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Standard Edition, Kobe Bryant Edition, and Black Mamba Edition are the three versions of the game that will be available.
The Black Mamba Edition and the Kobe Bryant Edition will both have Kobe Bryant on the cover and exclusive digital and tangible goods honoring his illustrious career. Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic will be featured on the cover of the Standard Edition.
