India’s ‘Golden Boy’ and two-time Olympic medallist, Neeraj Chopra on Monday, August 18 was confirmed to have qualified for the final of the prestigious Diamond League 2025. The 27-year-old Indian athlete, who has had a brilliant year thus far, was among the first to earn qualification for the Diamond League 2025 Final, which is scheduled to be held later this month.

The finale is set to be played across August 27 and 28 in Zurich, Switzerland. The Indian javelin thrower, who won the Diamond League title in 2022 and finished as runners-up in 2023 and 2024, will make his fourth straight appearance in the showpiece tournament, however, a confirmation from him is still awaited.

As per the latest rankings, released on Sunday by the World Athletics following the Silesia leg of the competition, Neeraj Chopra has been joined by two others - Trinidad & Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott and Germany’s Julian Weber. While Walcott sits at the top with 17 points, Julian Weber and Neeraj are tied at 15 points each.

Notably, Neeraj Chopra amassed 15 points from two Diamond League meetings, one where he won the title and the other where he finished second in Doha, after Julian Weber with his coveted 90m throw. The reigning world champion, who will be eyeing to defend his title at the World Championships in Tokyo in September, missed have the last couple of tournaments after his last event came in Bengaluru at the NC Classic.
