In a recent development, it is now being reported that the New Zealand players participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) might travel with the Indian players for the World Test Championship final in June as they can't go back home and then depart for England owing to strict quarantine requirements. The same has been indicated by the country's players' union chief. As many as 10 Kiwi players, including captain Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson and Mitchell Santner are playing for different franchises in the IPL.
"...they can't very well come home, do the two weeks isolation and then go to England, so they're going to have to be there (India) until the round-robin finishes, or the final series," NZ Cricket Players Association chief executive Heath Mills was quoted as saying in a PTI report.
"Then we've got other players who are coming home - logistically there's not a lot of flights. It's not easy to sort out the logistics. We're working closely with NZ Cricket and they're in touch with the BCCI and the ICC," Mills added.

Meanwhile, Mills had earlier stated that the Kiwi players are well looked after by their respective franchises and despite feeling anxious about the COVID surge in India, they are "okay."
"The players are in the safest place in India, in the team bubbles, which is the most important thing from my perspective.," he said.
