A New Zealand website has posted a disrespectful meme referring to Indian captain Virat Kohli’s dismissal by Kiwi pacer Kyle Jamieson twice in the ICC World Test Championship final. Although the Blackcaps play their cricket with the right spirit and are often termed the nice guys of the game, the incident reveals that some of the media in the country is contrary to that image.

The meme, shared by The AccNZ on its Instagram page, is receiving a lot of criticism ever since it was shared. Notably, in the meme, a woman is seen strapping a man’s neck with the woman labelled Jamieson, while the man captured and strapped was Kohli. The website, which provides sport commentary happens to be a verified publication with around 45k followers on its Instagram page.

It should be highlighted that after India’s eight-wicket defeat in the World Test Championship final, Kohli as well as the Indian team, have been the talking point of various memes online. Some of these even seem to be mocking and insulting the Indian team.

Meanwhile, Jamieson was ultimately adjudged the Player of the Match for his superb spell in the summit clash. While he took five wickets in the first innings, he scalped two more in the second to finish with seven in the match, giving away just 61 runs. Moreover, he removed his IPL captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore twice- once getting him out LBW while getting him to edge one through to the keeper in the second innings.
