Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bagged a six-wicket victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match, played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Chasing the target of 181 runs, the hosts saw the ordinary performance of their captain Rishabh Pant, who scored only 21 off 18. However, Nicholas Pooran along with opener Aiden Markram batted fiercely and pounded GT bowlers ruthlessly. Both built a 58-run partnership off just 29 balls. Markram fell against Prasidh Krishna after scoring amassing 58 off 31 but Pooran didn’t relent and went on to hit a magnificent 61 off just 34.
The southpaw’s innings was studded with eight boundaries (one four and seven maximums). LSG walked back victorious with six wickets in hand and three balls to spare and Markram got the player of the match (POTM) award for his half-century. However, netizen looked impressed with Pooran’s sensational batting as the Caribbean player was hailed on social media for producing another blazing knock from his bat. Some memers also ridiculed Pant for his underwhelming batting show in the game.
GT’s unprecedented collapse restricted them to 180/6 in 20 overs
GT started exceptionally in the game, riding on Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan’s 120-run stand off 12.1 overs. However, after Gill’s wicket, LSG bounced back and contained the visitors on 180/6 in 20 overs. Shardul Thakur and Ravi Bishnoi grabbed two wickets apiece and played an instrumental role in GT’s batting downfall.
Gujarat’s defeat has toppled them on the points table as Delhi Capitals (DC) are now leading the tally with four off four wins. Lucknow have been promoted on the tally as they have now earned the third position with their fourth triumph. LSG’s next match will be against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 14.
