Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians clashed in a nail-biting thriller on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium as the five-time champions chased a huge target of 213 runs with six wickets remaining. After the game, RR coach Kumar Sangakkara gave a motivational speech to the team in the dressing room and urged the team to appreciate their efforts and not feel dejected as it was a great game of cricket.

RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a spectacular knock of 124 runs and was awarded the Player of the Match award despite RR's loss. The 21-year-old also claimed the Orange cap in the IPL 2023 with his maiden century in the competition.

After the game, Sangakkara gave an inspirational speech to the heartbroken RR camp and said, "I need you guys to appreciate what a game of cricket this was. It was great. I know we feel down, when we have a great game, a great total, we expect to win. It's the same thing, we've done it to other sides. Alright? So no getting down. We got a lot of cricket to play, keep repeating the good things."

He concluded by appreciating the team's efforts and said, "The one thing from today, I want you guys to appreciate is all the efforts you guys put in, all the good cricket you played, all the good things you are today. How we can get a little bit better?"

Winning the toss, RR opted to bat first and registered a huge total of 212 runs as opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a lone ranger inning of 124-off-62 while the remaining Royals batters failed to reach the 20-run mark as Jos Buttler was the second top scorer for Rajasthan with 18 runs. Arshad Khan and Piyush Chawla picked three and two wickets respectively for Mumbai Indians.

While chasing the target, MI skipper Rohit Sharma lost his wicket in the second over, however, Cameroon Green (44) and Suryakumar Yadav (55) played brilliant innings to keep MI in the game. In the end, Tim David, who smashed three consecutive sixes in the final over, helped MI to win the game by six wickets and three balls remaining.
