With the second leg of IPL 2021 being moved to UAE, the IPL franchises were looking forward to getting started with the preparations for the same. Recently, a few franchise officials planned to visit UAE to finalise the logistics. "We are looking at heading to UAE post-July 6 so that we can seal the logistical deals," an official mentioned. However, the preparations for the same have to be halted for a while as UAE has extended the suspension of flights from India till July 21.

Franchises to seek special permission; charter flight may continue to operate

The UAE authorities have extended the suspension of flights from July 6 to July 21, causing a major roadblock to the preparations of IPL 2021. However, it has been learned that the franchises will now have to ask for special permissions in order to travel to the Gulf country, as charter flights could continue to operate.

Bookings won’t be as easy as last year in UAE: franchise official

An IPL franchise official went on to reveal that the logistics and bookings won’t be as easy as last year since the IPL season will be lined up by heavy tourists and vacation calendar. “Unlike last year, bulk bookings won’t be as easy this year as you will have people travelling into the country and that makes the workaround bio-bubbles all the more critical,” he added.
