Australian fast bowler Scott Boland has made it clear that there is no panic in the Australian dressing room despite a 295-run defeat in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against India in Perth. India have a taken a lead of 1-0 in a five-match Test series with a big win at Optus Stadium. Despite bowling India out for 150 runs in the first innings, Australia could only score 104 in the first innings, and were given a target of 534 runs, which they were nowhere close to chasing down.
After a loss in the first Test, Australia suffered another major blow as Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide, starting on December 6, due to side strain. Now, Scott Boland is likely to become a part of the Australian playing XI for the second Test in place of Hazlewood. Boland is also a part of the Prime Minister's XI for a two-day practice match against India from November 30 to December 1.
I'm pretty confident what we did in the first game was good: Scott Boland
Scott Boland was last seen playing for Australia during the 2023 Ashes. Now, he is set to be a part of the Australian playing XI against for the second Test in Adelaide. In his latest interview, Boland said there is no panic in the Australian dressing room after a loss in the first Test, and believed the hosts need to make only slight changes in their plans for the rest of the series.
"There's definitely not panic stations in our change rooms. There's obviously going to be some chats around individual performances and everyone wants to perform really well every game they play. But yeah, it's like, we've lost one game. It's not toys out of the cot, I don't think," Boland was quoted as saying by CricTracker.
"We've spoken as a team about our plans for all the different Indian batters. I won't tell you those, but we've got pretty set plans. They might have a little bit of a tweak after the guys have seen them again from Perth, because obviously [Yashasvi] Jaiswal batted really well there. KL Rahul batted well in the second dig as well and really dug in. So we'll probably have a chat over the next week and our plans might slightly change, but I'm pretty confident what we did in the first game was good," he further added.
