In the match 55th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC), the rain has stopped play at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The heavens opened up when SRH were getting ready to chase down a below par total of 133/7, posted by DC on the board despite the pitch being on the slower side, not allowing fluent stroke play for the batters.
Before the rains lashed the city of Hyderabad, the SRH bowlers were exceptional with the ball in the first half of the match, starting with their captain Pat Cummins taking three wickets in the powerplay after sending DC into batting first. He dismissed Karun Nair on the first ball of the match before getting the key wickets of Faf du Plessis and Abishek Porel on the first ball of his second and third over respectively, to put DC firmly on the backfoot.
Harshal Patel got his name amongst the wickets by dismissing Axar Patel cheaply before Jaydev Unadkat got the vital wicket of KL Rahul, which reduced DC to 29/5 in the eight over. Vipraj Nigam struck a couple of boundaries before getting run out in a mix up with Tristan Stubbs (41* off 36), but then, the South African international shared a valuable of 66 runs with Ashutosh Sharma (41 off 26), to give some respectability to the DC total.
Prior to the start of SRH innings, the rains made their arrival at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, and got heavier quite quickly, which meant that the play was stopped for the time being.
