But ahead of this match, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ruled out star all-rounder Hardik Pandya and called in Prasidh Krishna as his replacement. It is to be noted that Pandya sustained an ankle injury during India’s match against Bangladesh and failed to regain fitness. Soon after this, a BCCI official opened up on Indian all-rounder’s injury and the board’s decision to call a replacement. The unnamed BCCI official added that Hardik resumed training but saw a sudden swelling around his injured area, thus forcing a change in the side.
“As it has been said earlier, Pandya doesn’t have any fracture and only had a minor tear. He had resumed training, but suddenly considerable amount of swelling developed in left ankle region and he wouldn’t have been fit to bowl. This is not some injury which could be managed with injections. Considerable swelling resurfaced on Thursday and unless it subsides, he can’t do skills training for some more time,” the BCCI official said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
It is to be noted that after Hardik Pandya’s absence, Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav has been added in the side and have been doing their part well. Additionally, after India’s game against South Africa, India will next face the Netherlands on November 12 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
