The record-time Indian Premier League winners, Mumbai Indians took a cheeky dig at Punjab Kings after chasing down 215 runs successfully at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali on Wednesday, May 3. MI skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited the hosts of the evening to bat first. After their win with seven balls to spare, Mumbai Indians came up with a cheeky tweet, referring to the viral tweet by Punjab Kings after their win against MI in the reverse fixture.

On April 22, PBKS defeated MI by 13 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in their reverse fixture this season, and the latter completed the revenge on Punjab with their six-wicket victory on Wednesday.

Responding indirectly to PBKS' old tweet, Mumbai Indians took a dig at them stating that they wouldn't like to register any complaint as they had visited Mohali to play a game of cricket, and successfully managed to win the match. The tweet by Mumbai Indians read, " To all Police departments,  Nothing to report here. We just played a game of cricket in Mohali and a team was beaten here. You guys have important matters to take care of. Thank you for your services as always 🫡 🇮🇳💙."

Notably, earlier this season, Punjab Kings had tweeted about registering a police complaint as the PBKS pacer Arshdeep Singh’s Yorkers sent the middle stump flying in the match. However, Mumbai Police, in a cheeky fashion replied to Punjab Kings that actions are taken against breaking laws, and not stumps.

Talking about the game, Punjab opened their innings at a slow pace, but Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma’s explosive innings changed the entire momentum of the game. Liam’s fiery unbeaten 42-ball 82 and Jitesh's unbeaten knock of 49 runs off 27 balls helped the hosts put up a big score of 214 for the visiting team to chase. In return, Mumbai’s Ishan Kishan scored 75 runs in 41 balls, along with Suryakumar Yadav’s flamboyant 66 off 31 deliveries helped Mumbai win their fifth game and step up on the points table.
