Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals defeated MS Dhoni’s Chennai Superkings in a final-ball thriller marking their first win at the Chepauk Stadium since 2008. However, the victory that Samson’s squad got didn’t come easy as the Royals had to weather an MS Dhoni masterclass in the last over of the match. Speaking of the game, the RR captain hailed MS Dhoni and said nothing works against Chennai’s Thala.
Captain Cool played a magnificent knock of 32 off 17 balls, urging the home fans to get off their seats. However, he failed to pull his team to the victory side as CSK lost the match by a minimal margin of 3 runs.
Speaking in a post-match presentation, Samson said, "You have to respect that guy and know what he can do in the middle. Everyone was involved and the match is not over till the last ball. I do a lot of planning, research and sit down with the data team but a lot of calls have to be taken inside the ground looking at who is bowling well at what point. I only played two balls, but I'm drained as if I have scored a hundred. A lot of thoughts are going around."
When Sanjay Manjrekar asked Samson if he and his team had any data or numbers to stop Dhoni, the RR captain said No. Manjrekar asked, "What data do you have on that guy you have just mentioned?"
Nothing. Nothing works, no data, nothing," replied Samson. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 32 off 17 deliveries with three huge sixes; however, his team fell short of 3 runs from the victory. Rajasthan Royals will now take on Gujarat Titans on Sunday, April 16.
