The ongoing second Test between England and New Zealand at Trent Bridge seems to be heading towards a possible draw as a plethora of runs have been scored by both the teams in the first three days. After New Zealand posted 553-10 in 145.3 overs on the back of Daryl Mitchell's 190 and Tom Blundell's 106, England gave a befitting reply by posting 539 in 128.2 overs.
For hosts, Joe Root smashed his fastest Test century by scoring 145 in 239 deliveries, and young prodigy Ollie Pope's 145 in 239 balls put England in a commanding position in the game. The match saw former England skipper Joe Root shattering several records as he scored his 27th Test ton, equalling the likes of Virat Kohli and Australia's Steve Smith, the other two best batters in the current crop with 27 tons.
The blockbuster competition between two quality teams saw a lot of participation from the crowd as spectators enjoyed their time while players produced top-notch cricket in the middle. In a recent development, Nottinghamshire has decided to not charge a penny from the crowd for the final day and will offer tickets for free.
While making the decision public, the club informed that the decision to permit free entry has been taken by Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club after a thrilling four days sending the contest into its final chapter with all three results still possible.
“We hope that this gesture will encourage first-time visitors to join long-standing supporters at Trent Bridge and we can’t wait to welcome you to our historic home," said the club.
Speaking of the match, New Zealand are currently leading by over 200 runs at the loss of 7-wickets in the second innings. Will Young (56 off 113) and Devon Conway (52 off 109) scored half-centuries to add valuable runs on board.
