One of the greats of the game of tennis, Novak Djokovic recently won the Australian Open 2023, equaling Rafael Nadal with 22 Grand Slams. After his victory, the World No. 1 decided to auction his shirt in an auction on Saturday (11 February).

The Serbian’s charity organisation - Novak Djokovic Foundation on 11 February auctioned the shirt to raise funds for children’s education in Kosovo. It is to be noted that Djokovic wore a double shaded blue LaCoste t-shirt last month during the course of the tournament.

Notably, the auction was organised in Vienna, Austria and fetched around 11,000 Euros. Novak’s wife Jelena Djokovic shared a post where she wrote, “The jersey is for 11000e. Rest of the money goes to Kosovska Mitrovica to increase the capacity of kindergartens for our children.”

Novak has been associated with charity programmes all throughout his career. He has continuously worked for children through his organisation Novak Djokovic Foundation. The foundation is said to work mainly in the field of education for children in poor regions of Serbia.

The Serb has regained his No. 1 spot after dropping down to the fifth place in the ATP Rankings. The 35-year-old will next be seen in action at the Dubai Tennis Championships, starting February 27.
