Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic and his family announced their entry into the wine business a few days ago and now, the company has launched its first two labels. Djokovic Chardonnay 2020 and Djokovic Syrah 2020 are the first two labels of Djokovic Winery. Notably, the winery was founded by the Serbian great himself along with some of his family members. Novak’s uncle, Goran is the director of the winery.

The two new labels of Djokovic winery are placed in the premium segment and will go on sale very soon, only in Serbia for the time being. The company’s director expects it to excel in the business and is ready for the challenges ahead. Goran cited the example of his nephew and said that he expects the company to attain a similar status to what Djokovic has achieved in the tennis world.

"There are many challenges, but we try to achieve the maximum in this business, as in everything," Goran Djokovic told Vino & Fino via translation. "Even Novak's racquet is not perfect, but he is still the best in the world."

Djokovic Chardonnay 2020 is said to be a wine with lots of ripe fruit, pears, mangoes, and melons, and has a lot of freshness with precise 'varietal aroma' and 'creamy notes of butter.' Meanwhile, the Syrah 2020 is believed to be more vintage with a meaty aroma, and has black fruit and wet stone, with some floral tones, spices and well-integrated wood.

Vino & Fino reports that the Djokovic family vineyard covers six hectares, three for white grapes and three for red grapes, on "one of the most attractive lands in Serbia, on red soil rich in stone, marl and lime, with large white pieces of stone." The wine is currently sold at the Wine & Pleasure store locally, and the magazine also reports that there's large interest for global distribution.
