Match Preview

The 35th match of the World Cup 2023 will see New Zealand lock horns with Pakistan on November 4. The match will take place at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In their last fixture, Pakistan registered a seven-wicket win over Bangladesh. New Zealand, on the other hand, received a huge 190-run defeat to South Africa in their previous fixture, marking their third consecutive defeat in the ongoing edition of the tournament.

Team News

In the previous match Black Caps suffered a major blow as their fast bowler Matt Henry retired out due to a hamstring injury. While Henry is awaiting his scan results, fellow pacer Lockie Ferguson is still recovering from an Achilles injury. The 2019 finalists have called Kyle Jamieson as a precautionary measure. Other than this, skipper Kane Williamson will undergo scans before the match, and it is when the decision of him to play will be taken.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s vice-captain Shadab Khan was ruled out in the Bangladesh match. The PCB is yet to share an update about him for the upcoming match.

Toss Prediction

win possibility

New Zealand’s stand-in captain Tom Latham came on top in two of three last tosses. Similarly, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam managed to win two tosses in his side’s three toss wars. Speaking of the forthcoming match on Saturday, we think Tom Latham will have luck on his side and he will win the toss over Azam.

Win Possibility                                                                         win possibility 1

Pakistan and New Zealand sit on the edge of making it to the semifinal stage of the ODI World Cup 2023. Needless to say, the forthcoming game is going to be extremely crucial for both sides. Speaking of the ODI rivalry between the teams, they have played 115 matches. While Pakistan have emerged victorious on 60 occasions, New Zealand have won 51 matches.

In the current season, the Kiwis have won four matches, while the Men in Green have come on top in three matches. While the 2015 and 2019 finalists will give a tough fight, Pakistan has been gaining momentum with each match in the contest. Hence, we think Babar Azam and Co. will win the upcoming match.

Predicted Powerplay Score and Average First Inning Score

powerplay score

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been slated to host a total of five matches in the 13th edition of the ODI World Cup. Looking back at the past games of the venue, the stadium has hosted 37 50-over matches with an average first-inning score of 233.

Considering this and the big hitters that both teams have, we think the first-inning score in the upcoming game will easily be somewhere around 275-295 while the powerplay score would lie between 45-50.
