During this run chase, Shaheen Shah Afridi played a crucial role as he dismissed two of the Indian batters and finished with the figures of 2/36 in six overs. However, he has been expensive for the side thus far in the tournament, Pakistan great Waqar Younis shared a piece of advice for him. The great of Pakistan cricket said that discipline is a major missing link in Afridi’s bowling, questioning if he is fully fit.
“I don’t know if there is a problem with his fitness. The missing link in his bowling is discipline and he is over trying to get wickets,” he quoted to AFP. Waqar added that Shaheen should follow Jasprit Bumrah, adding, “Bumrah is creating pressure and his line is top of the off stump. He bowled so well against Pakistan and created pressure to get wicket,” Waqar said.
He also added that absence of Naseem Shah might have had some effect on Shaheen’s bowling. “When Naseem creates pressure, batsmen take chances with other bowlers and they get wickets,” he further told AFP while adding on the lack of discipline bowling. He also said, “I don’t think it is because of missing just one bowler, but it’s because they are not keeping it simple.”
