The Men in Blue are taking on Afghanistan in their second league match of the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023. The Afghan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and opted to bat first, in aim to overturn the head-to-head record between the two Asian countries.

As the players lined up after the toss ahead of the start of the match, the two teams observed two minutes of silence for the victims of the recent earthquake in Afghanistan. Additionally, the Afghanistan players were seen sporting black armbands for the victim of the earthquake.

Afghanistan was witness of second earthquake this morning, just days after two massive quakes in the same region. The 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck on Wednesday morning at around 5 am local time, 28km north of the city of Heart.

The massive jolts has so far surpassed the death toll of more than 1,000 people with several injured.
