After a dismal start to their 2022-23 season, Manchester United pulled off one of the biggest transfers of the window as they bought in Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro for a reported fee of €60m (plus €10m in add-ons). The two have reportedly agreed on to sign a four-year deal with an option of a further 12 months.

The Brazilian star is all set to make his debut against Southampton. But even before stepping on the field for the Red Devils, Casemiro has been pulling out some shots as he had a savage reply when he was asked about not playing in the Champions League as he already has five UCL titles.

The former Real Madrid man said, "Oh, I have five (titles), right? But it's not because I have five that I don't want Manchester to win! The Champions League is the most important championship, everyone wants to win."

The Brazilian midfielder further talked about how playing in the Champions League is still very important and hence he is ready to work hard and push. He said. “The Champions League, of course, I want to win, if we don't play, I'll be sad. I want to be there, even for the greatness of the club. But that happens with work and dedication.”

Casemiro further talked about how he wants to continue learning and hence he selected Manchester United as his new club. He said, “I want to learn, United have always been very affectionate, from the first day, they made me feel comfortable. The coach was very attentive, charismatic from day one. They always showed interest. This is very important."

Manchester United football director John Murtough was also excited about the signing of Casemiro and called him one of the top players in the world. “Casemiro is a serial winner and one of the best midfielders in world football; his exceptional record speaks for itself", he said.

“He complements the skillsets of the squad and will be a great addition to the dressing room with his experience, knowledge and character. I know that Casemiro remains as determined as ever to be successful on the pitch and we look forward to seeing that happen in a Manchester United shirt”, Murtough further added.
