Veteran Wrestler Sushil Kumar has found himself in a fresh controversy after a young wrestler was beaten to death in a clash involving two parties on the premises of Chhatrasal stadium in North-West Delhi on Tuesday. According to Police, the incident involved Sushil, Ajay, Prince, Sonu, Sagar, Amit and others in the parking area. The police received information about firing inside the Stadium. After this, they reached the Stadium and found 5 cars parked in the parking lot. Officers found one double-barrel loaded gun with five live cartridges in one Scorpio and two wooden sticks during an inspection of the vehicles.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Guriqbal Singh Sidhu said, "All the five vehicles and weapons of offence were seized. The crime scene was further inspected by forensic experts of FSL, Rohini." During the investigation, information regarding the death of Sagar and injury to Sonu was received from Trauma Centre, Civil Lines, following which sections 302, 365, 120B of the IPC were registered, he added.

In an official statement to ANI, Sushil quoted, "They weren't our wrestlers, it happened late last night. We have informed police officials that some unknown people jump into our premises and fought. No connection of our wrestlers with this incident."

Meanwhile, India will begin its Olympic Qualifiers campaign from May 6 in Sofia, Bulgaria. India has already confirmed berth in six weight categories, three in Freestyle and Women’s Wrestling each and will strive for the remaining 12 weight classes.
