On July 27, 2020, Juventus won Serie A for the ninth season in a row after beating Sampdoria in the final of the tournament’s edition, played at the Allianz Stadium. Star player Cristiano Ronaldo, who was associated with the club then, played a vital role in the success. In the initial 40 minutes, both teams resisted each other from scoring but in the first-half stoppage time, Ronaldo stepped up and shattered the deadlock. He notched up a goal for his side in the 52nd minute and handed the momentum to Juventus. Earlier, the Portuguese missed a notable late penalty.
Emboldened by Ronaldo’s valiance, Federico Bernardeschi also exhibited his brutal side against Sampdoria. He scored the second goal for Juve which helped the club move seven points clear of Inter Milan. Sampdoria failed to score any goal in the entire contest and Juventus succeeded in reclaiming the title. Juventus bagged the trophy with a couple of games to spare despite a faltering campaign. It was grand maiden Italian title win of Maurizio Sarri, who was later sacked as Juventus’ manager. It was Juventus’ 36th and last Serie A title.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s contribution to Juventus’ title
Cristiano Ronaldo played an instrumental role in Juventus’ success. At the age of 35, he racked up 31 goals in 33 outings. His scintillating performance helped him to conclude the tournament as the second-leading goal-scorer, following Italy’s Ciro Immobile, who was a member of Lazio then.

Ronaldo’s association with Juventus lasted until 2021. He ended his stint with Juventus with 81 goals in 98 contests. Following the legend’s exit, Juventus haven’t won any title. In 2023, Juve delivered their best performance following the 2020 title win, finishing their journey in the third spot.
