On April 29, 2014, a classic IPL thriller took place between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, where both the teams ended up putting same total not just in the match but in Super Over as well. RR came out victorious in this match as they scored more fours than KKR in that game giving a dramatic finish to a thrilling encounter.

Batting first, Rajasthan Royals posted a total of 152 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs. Ajinkya Rahane was top scorer with 72(59) runs, hitting six fours and a six, while skipper Shane Watson contributed with 33(24) runs with five boundaries. For KKR, Vinay Kumar took two wickets while Morne Morkel and Shakib Al Hasan scalped a wicket each.

After posting 152/5, RR bowlers didn’t let KKR batters to play freely as they also ended up posting 152 runs at teh loss of eight wickets. KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir top scored with 45(44) runs, hitting four boundaries, while James Faulkner ended up taking three wickets for RR. After that, the match went down to the Super Over where KKR scored 11 runs in six balls.

In reply, RR also ended scoring 11 runs in their six balls which also led Super Over to a tie. Despite the match ending in a tie, RR were announced as winners for scoring more boundaries than KKR. With this, RR also became the first team in cricket history to win a match in terms of boundary count. The next instance took place during the 2019 ODI World Cup final between England and New Zealand at Lords where England were announced as champions despite the match and Super Over ending in a draw.
