Star Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav went on to smash his second ton in the Indian Premier League in a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 6, 2024. Although MI had a season to forget last year, Suryakumar gave their fans a reason to smile with his match-winning knock against SRH, scoring the second hundred of his IPL career.
Batting first, SRH posted a total of 173 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. Travis Head was the top-scorer with 48*(30) runs, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Marco Jansen contributed with 20 runs and 17 runs respectively. After that, skipper Pat Cummins gave finishing touches with 35*(17) runs as SRH posted a competitive total on board. For MI, skipper Hardik Pandya and Piyush Chawla scalped three wickets each, while Anshul Kamboj and Jasprit Bumrah scalped a wicket each.
Suryakumar Yadav smashed match-winning 100 after poor start while chasing

Chasing the winning target, Mumbai Indians had a poor start as they were reduced to 31 for three in 4.1 overs. After that, Suryakumar Yadav took charge of the innings along with Tilak Varma as the duo put up an partnership of 143 runs for the fourth wicket. Tilak remained unbeaten on 37*(32) runs, hitting six boundaries.
On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 102* runs off just 51 balls, hitting 12 fours and six sixes as MI chased the winning target in 17.2 overs while losing three wickets. He was adjudged player for the match for his performance. For SRH, Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen scalped a wicket each.
