Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed the fastest-ever half-century in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for Rajasthan Royals in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on May 11, 2023. The young batter had a memorable season in IPL 2023 where he amassed 625 runs from 14 matches at an average of 48.07 with one hundred and five fifties. His performance also helped him to get a place in the Indian team.
One of his memorable knocks in IPL 2023 came in a match against KKR at Eden Gardens, where he scored a fiery 98*(47) runs as RR chased the target of 150 runs in just 13.1 overs. Coming to bat first after losing the toss, KKR posted 149 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Nitish Rana top scored with 57 runs off 42 balls. For RR, Yuzvendra Chahal registered figures of 4/25, Trent Boult took two wickets, while Sandeep Sharma and KM Asif scalped a wicket each.

Chasing the winning target, RR lost their first wicket at the score of 30 runs in 1.4 overs with Jos Buttler getting out after a three-ball duck. After that, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson put up an unbeaten partnership of 121 runs as RR went on to win the match by nine wickets. Jaiswal completed his fifty in just 13 balls becoming the player to smash the fastest-ever half-century in the IPL history.
The left-handed batsman remained unbeaten on 98 runs off just 47 balls, hitting 12 fours and five sixes. Meanwhile skipper Sanju Samson scored 48*(29), hitting two fours and five sixes. Currently, Jaiswal tops the list of players with fastest IPL fifty, while players likes KL Rahul, Pat Cummins and Romario Shephard share the second place for smashing fifties in 14 balls each.
