The first semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2022 is underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground between Pakistan and New Zealand. Although New Zealand had an advantage as Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bat first, Pakistan nullified it straightaway as Shaheen Afridi got rid of Finn Allen on the third delivery of the first over on New Zealand’s innings.
As Allen had destroyed Mitchell Starc in New Zealand’s first match of the tournament, everyone expected him to do it against Shaheen Afridi as well. But the Pakistani pacer was up for the challenge.
The left-arm pacer was at it again as he swung the ball upfront and troubled Allen. Although the Kiwi opener dispatched the first delivery of the over for a boundary, Afridi backed himself and pitched the ball on the fuller length once again. Allen survived on the second ball as he got an inside edge but he could not survive for the second time as he was struck on his pads right in front of the three sticks.
With Allen getting dismissed after scoring only a boundary, his fans were left disappointed. While some found his tactics of attacking Afridi straightaway illogical, some called him a one-match basher.
