Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta hailed skipper Shreyas Iyer for his performance in IPL 2025 and also revealed that he was the first and the only choice of captaincy for the franchise before they picked him in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Notably, PBKS bought Iyer for a whopping 26.75 crore making him the second most expensive player in IPL history.
As Preity Zinta was engaging with fans on her X, a fan asked her to share her views for Shreyas Iyer. To this, Zinta replied “Shreyas is a very down to earth guy and an amazing captain. Very tactical and aggressive in his approach as a player, but the sweetest and the most soft-spoken guy. We are very happy that he is leading Punjab kings & happier we could get him in the auction as he was our first & only choice for captaincy, therefore, the whole auction revolved around him for us as a team.”
PBKS set to face CSK in their upcoming IPL 2025 fixture
Punjab Kings will now face Chennai Super Kings in match number 49 of IPL 2025 at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 30. PBKS are currently standing at the fifth position in the points table with five wins and three losses with their one game getting washed out due to rain. They are still in strong contention to qualify for the playoffs and will be looking to win their remaining matches.
Meanwhile, CSK are still at the bottom of the table with just two wins and seven losses so far. With another defeat they will be officially knocked out from the playoffs race. Now, MS Dhoni and his men will be looking to get back on the winning track and keep their chances alive for the top four.
