The BCCI (Boards of Control for Cricket in India) has decided to pay tribute to the victims of Pahalgam attack during the upcoming IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 23. The whole nation left in shock when around 26 civilians including two foreigners lost their lives in a deadly attack in Pahalgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.

Now, the BCCI has decided to pay tribute to victims of the Pahalgam attack and will observe a minute of silence before the start of match between SRH and MI. Apart from that, the players and the umpires will also wear black armbands during the match and there will be no fireworks and cheerleaders present.

Indian cricketers show condolences for Pahalgam attack victims

After a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian cricketers also showed their condolences for the victims of the attack. Head coach Gautam Gambhir wrote on his X that India should retaliate the attack. “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike. #Pahalgam” the former cricketer wrote. Apart from that Yuvraj Singh also urged the Indias and stay united in these tough situation. “Deeply saddened by the attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Praying for the victims and for the strength of their families 🙏🏻 Let us stand united in hope and humanity.”

Notably, this is not the first time that the BCCI has decided to pay a tribute to the victims of a terrorist attack. After the Pulwana attack in 2019, the Indian players wore the camouflage caps during an ODI match against Australia that year to homage to the victims.
