In the previous edition of the T20 World Cup in 2022, Pakistan reached the final of the tournament, only to lose in a close encounter against England.
During the build-up to the T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan selectors made wholesale changes, appointing Shaheen Afridi as the new captain, but they removed him from the role within months, handing over the leadership role back to Babar Azam. There has been a lot of turmoil in the Pakistani ranks going into the upcoming ICC tournament, but they can never be ruled out of the reckoning when it really matters.

Mohammad Rizwan, known as a model of consistency in the T20I format, will be pairing up with him at the top of the order for Pakistan, but he has to improve his strike-rate to be more effective for the national team.
