In a shocking and unfortunate news, paralympic gold medallist Krishna Nagar missed the Khel Ratna awards ceremony. This is because he had lost his mother in an accident. Nagar's mother had fallen from the terrace of their house to the first floor on November 10 and was admitted to Intensive Care but could not survive.

It is a shame that Nagar, who clinched the historic gold medal at the Japanese capital in men's badminton singles, was not able to attend the award ceremony he was looking forward to attending along with his family.

"My family feels proud as everyone recognises them and they are very happy with the respect being bestowed on them. Just want to imagine what it would be like to be felicitated by the President of India," Nagar had told ANI in an interview.
