India’s top medal prospect and two-time Olympic medallist, PV Sindhu on Wednesday, July 31, stormed into the Round of 16 after comfortable win over her Estonian opponent. The Indian shuttler cruised part her opponent, Kristin Kuuba of Estonia in Group M clash with a scoreline of 21-5, 21-10.
The Indian took only 34 minutes to decimate her Estonian opponent and progress into the Round of 16 with two straight wins so far in the Paris Olympics 2024. It is to be noted that the Indian is eyeing on a hat-trick of Olympic medal at the Paris 2024 after her silver medal victory at Rio 2016 Olympics and a bronze medal finish at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Earlier in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Sindhu edged past her Maldives opponent Fathimath Nabaaha Razzaq in less than 30 minutes to kick start her group stage campaign. The Indian shuttler defeated the Maldives player 21-9, 21-6 in a match which lasted for 29 minutes only.
The Indian shuttler, who has been placed in Group M alongside Maldives and Estonia, could face two-time World Championships medallist He Bingjao of People’s Republic of China in RO16 and may even face reigning champion Chen Yufei in the quarterfinals.
