The Indian mixed archery team of Ankit Bhakat-Dhiraj Bommadevara suffered a heartbreaking 6-2 loss against the South Korean pair of Lim Si-Hyeon and Kim Woo-jin at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian mixed archery team qualified for the semifinal after beating Spain in the quarterfinal. Ankit Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara will play in the Bronze medal match.
In these semis, the Indian pair took a 2-0 lead with a score of 38 to Korea's 36. In Set 2, Korea had a strong start by hitting two 10s where the Indians struggled and managed to score 17. India tried coming back in the second set but Lim Si-Hyeon and Kim Woo-jin emerged victorious with a 38-35 win.
The third set saw Korea start with a 19 while India retaliated with an 18. In the second attempt, Si-Hyeon and Woo-jin reached a combined score of 38 against which the Indians could manage only 36. Set 4 started with the Indians registering a score of 18 before the Koreans hit a perfect 20. In attempt two, Ankit Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara hit perfect 10s but it wasn't enough as South Korea registered the score of 39 to qualify for the final.
Talking about other Indian archers, Deepika Kumari entered the Round of 16 in the women's individual event of the Paris Olympics after consecutive victories. Deepika had a poor performance in the team event but defeated Reena Parnat and Quinty Roeffen by 6-5 and 6-2 respectively to reach the Round of 16.
