Paris Saint-Germain have sacked manager Mauricio Pochettino after his 18-month stint at the French club. The Ligue 1 giants have announced the manager's exit on Tuesday and the appointment of former Nice manager Christophe Galtier as the new PSG head coach.

The French club took to Twitter to declare Pochettino's exit after the Argentine failed to deliver the Champions League trophy, despite having the mighty forwards featuring Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe.

PSG have issued a 35-word statement on Pochettino's exit: "Paris Saint-Germain confirm that Mauricio Pochettino has ended his role at the Club. The Club would like to thank Mauricio Pochettino and his staff for their work and wish them the best for the future."

PSG, meanwhile, also confirmed the appointment of Christophe Galtier as their head coach. They tweeted: "Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce that Christophe Galtier has been appointed as first-team head coach. The Frenchman has signed a contract for two seasons until 30th June 2024."

Pochettino had joined the French club in January 2021 on an 18-month contract and later he extended the contract till the summer of 2023. However, the club parted ways with the Argentine despite having a year left in his contract.
