The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently came up with new guided lines for the players of the men’s Indian cricket team. The Apex cricket board released a document of several do’s and don'ts representing the Indian cricket team in any series or tournament in a country or overseas. Some of the main highlights from the new policy by the BCCI includes mandatory participation in domestic cricket. Apart from that, players now aren’t allowed to travel separately for any overseas tour.
In the new policies, the BCCI have also put several restriction on the presence of family members or any personal staff during a tour. However, during a long overseas of more than 45 days, the Indian players can be joined by their family members for upto two weeks. Apart from that, all the players are required to stay during the entire duration of practice session during a tour and travel together with a team.
BCCI restricts players from personal shoots during tours
As per the further guidelines, the BCCI has restricted the players to engage in any personal shoot or endorsement during an ongoing tour and a series. However, the players are required to be available for BCCI’s official shoots, promotional activities, and functions. Apart from that, the players also aren’t supposed to leave before the scheduled time of the match even if the match ended early and are required to stay with the team.
According to the new policies, if any player violates the BCCI guidelines, the Board will take an disciplinary action against that player. The action may include sanctioning the player rom participating in all BCCI conducted tournaments including the Indian Premier League, or reducing the retainer amount and match fees under BCCI player contract.
