The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Wednesday announced the list of eligible candidates for 2023 that includes former Spanish star Pau Gasol, Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki, San Antonio Spurs president Gregg Popovich, French guard Tony Parker, three-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade, and the 1976 U.S. Olympic Women’s Basketball Team among others.
During the NBA All-Star game, the Hall of Fame 2023 finalists from the North American and Women’s committee will be announced on Friday, February 17 in Utah.
The remaining finalists of the Hall of Fame 2023, including the international, women's veterans, contributors, veterans selected by the direct-elect committees, will be unveiled during the NCAA Final Four in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, April 1.
Talking about the high-profile nominees, legendary coach Popovich has won five NBA titles with the San Antonio Spurs while Pau Gasol was a part of the 2006 FIBA World Cup winning Spanish side and won two back-to-back NBA titles with Los Angeles Lakers. Apart from them, legendary NBA players Dirk Nowitzki and Dwayne Wade are also included in the prestigious list.
While Nowitzki is the only NBA player to represent a single franchise for 21 years of his career. While playing for Dallas Mavericks, Nowitzki won the 2011 championship and is the first European player to receive the NBA MVP Award. On the other hand, Dwayne Wade played 13 years for Miami Heat in his 16-year NBA career, winning three titles.
