Indian Premier League franchise Punjab Kings co-owner, Preity Zinta made her comeback to the Cannes Film Festival after a long gap of 17 years. The actress and entrepreneur made her comeback at the globally renowned festival before her comeback in Bollywood with Lahore 1947. Zinta made her first appearance at the event when she posed at the French Riviera. The ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ actress was seen in a white pearl gown with her hair tied in a bun accessorised with pearl earrings.
The 49-year-old is attending Cannes to present the Pierre Angenieux ExcelLens in Cinematography award to DOP Santosh Sivan. Earlier, she collaborated with Sivan in Mani Ratnam film ‘Dil Se’, where she starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Zinta will also work with Sivan in her upcoming movie.
Zinta talked to DD India at the Cannes Film Festival and recalled how Santosh made her look good in 'Dil Se'. She said, “While we were shooting in Kerala, the song had a little light rain. You don't really see the rain, but it was there. So in the four days there, my bones were hurting in the rain. I had a fever, I wasn't feeling well. Santosh came and got me rasam and all the food, and said, ‘Why don’t you eat this? It's hot.' He was really sweet and took care of me.”
Zinta made her Cannes debut in 2006, where she attended the premiers of The Wind That Shakes the Barley and Paris, Je T’aime. Later in 2013, the actress returned to the festival as the brand ambassador of the luxury watch brand, Chopard. Zinta's franchise PBKS finished bottom second in the IPL 2024 standings.
