Ahead of the final of the Spanish Super Cup, i.e., Supercopa de Espana, the Barcelona midfield sensation, Pedri, dropped a major hint about renewing his current contract with the Catalan giants. The 22-year-old is signed to Barcelona till 2026, and during his latest interview, when asked about the contract renewal, he stated that “everything is going well,” but this isn’t the time to divulge into the matter any further.

Following his debut for Barcelona in 2020 as a teenager, Pedri has been one of the most promising young players at the club, but his first few years at the club have been marred by a scourge of injuries. The ongoing 2024-25 season has been a good one for Pedri in terms of game time under his belt, playing 27 matches at the halfway stage of the season, including 19 straight appearances in La Liga.

My agents and the club tell me is that everything is going well: Pedri

While talking to Spanish news tabloid Mundo Deportivo, when Pedri was asked about renewing his contract with Barcelona, he spoke about his agents and the club working on negotiating the terms of the deal currently. He was quoted as saying, "What my agents and the club tell me is that everything is going well, but now is not the time to discuss the renewal. People can rest easy. Right now, it’s all about the Supercup final.”

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed the news about advancing contract renewal negotiations between Pedri’s agents and Barcelona. Moreover, ahead of the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Pedri addressed the dressing room environment of Barcelona, talking about how playing against the arch-rivals motivates them beyond anything.

“I see the dressing room well, motivated, eager to play in a final. Playing for a title and against Madrid motivates everyone. It’s one of those games that you want to play since you were a kid,” Pedri remarked.
