Gujarat Titans batter Shubman Gill is currently playing the innings of his life. Often seen as the ‘heir-apparent’ of the ‘run machine’ Virat Kohli, Gill scored centuries in all formats of the game earlier this year and is in his red-hot form in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League 2023. Gill hit his third IPL ton against the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians on May 26th, and led his side to the final for the second time in a row. After smashing 129 runs off 60 balls, and as GT got the better of MI, Gill was seen engaging in an intense chat with former cricketer and current MI mentor Sachin Tendulkar.
In the second qualifier of the IPL 2023, Gill made a cautious start, but as he felt settled, he started smashing Mumbai bowlers, and helped his team post a massive score of 233 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets. As Gill put up a huge score with a combination of ten sixes and seven fours, he was seen interacting with the former India great Sachin Tendulkar. Notably, his knock of 129 now stands as the highest ever scored by a batter in the playoffs. Apart from this, the brilliance of Mohit Sharma helped the reigning champions make it to the final of the tournament for the second consecutive time. The 23-year-old batter from Punjab has so far scored 851 runs in 16 matches of the tournament and is leading the Orange Cap charts. Speaking of the final, Gujarat Titans will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings in the final summit of the Indian Premier League 2023 on May 28, Sunday.
