In the World Championship of Legends, both India Champions and West Indies Champion came to face off each other after conceding defeats in their previous games against England Champions and Pakistan Champions respectively. India Champions, currently placed at last position are still looking to get their first win of the tournament. In a quest of that win they opted to bowl first against the batting lineup of West Indies Champions featuring names Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo. In the task of containing the opponent to score, India Champions’ bowlers applied pressure which resulted in wickets at regular intervals at the Leicester ground.

West Indies Champions could not even utilise the field restrictions properly, with Piyush Chawla denting them further in the final over of the powerplay and restricting them 32/4. The veteran Indian leg-spinner came to bowl in the sixth over, and struck the opponent twice in his first over, he ended up with the figures of 3/18. Chawla’s first wicket was West Indies Champion’s opener Lendl Simmons, who misjudged his full length googly. As the ball spun back into the middle and leg stump line, Simmons got low to tonk it across the line and in that process he lost the shape and the ball clattered into the stumps. His second scalp was William Perkins, who also tried to play across the line and couldn’t figure out the turn of the ball towards the line between off and middle stump. Piyush Chawla’s third wicket came in his final over, when Ashley Nurse tried to sweep but misjudged the fuller and quicker ball directed towards stumps, getting out LBW. The leg spinner registered figures of 3/18 as WI Champions were restricted at 144/9 in their 20 overs

India Champions so far had a dismal outing in World Championship of Legends 2025

India have not been in great form in the ongoing season of the World Championship of Legends. The team hasn’t been able to secure a single win and with one point they are at the bottom of the points tally. After they pulled out of their first game against Pakistan, they lost back-to-back games to South Africa Champions, Australia Champions and England Champions. A win in their last game against West Indies Champions will take them to three points, on par with England Champions but they will still remain behind them due to a bad net run rate.

Their highest run scorer in the tournament for the Indian side is Shikhar Dhawan (109 runs, one fifty) who is at the eighth position overall, while Yusuf Pathan is just behind him on ninth scoring the same number of runs. Whereas Piyush Chawla is the only Indian among the top wicket takers of the tournament. Thursday July 31, 2025 will witness the two semifinals of the tournament and on Saturday, August 2, the final will be played.
