The final of the Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2025 final belonged to all-rounder Gongadi Trisha, whose all-round heroics helped India defend their title successfully at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, February 2. In a one-sided final, India defeated South Africa by nine wickets with 52 balls remaining after Gongadi Trisha took three wickets and got unbeaten 44 in 33 in a very low-scoring game earlier today.
For the unversed, South Africa captain Kayla Reyneke decided to bat first after winning the toss, and they lost three quick wickets in the first five overs, to find themselves firmly on the backfoot in the final. Gongadi Trisha, who was introduced into the attack after the conclusion of the power play stage, got the big wicket of Kayla Reyneke despite the struggles of her with the bat in hand, scoring just seven runs in 21 balls.

The other Indian bowlers kept the South African from getting into any sort of rhythm right throughout their innings, while taking key wickets at regular intervals, to push them firmly on the backfoot in the death overs. Gongadi Trisha got two more wickets in two consecutive balls in the 18th over of the innings, including the key scalp of Mieke van Vroost for 23 runs in 18 balls before castling Seshnie Naidu on the first ball.
After registering figures of 3/15 in her four-over spell, to help bowl out South Africa for 82 runs in exactly 20 overs, Gongadi Trisha opened the batting for India in the run chase. Her calm and composed innings, which included eight fours, helped the team to get over the finishing line with great ease, which meant that they were able to defend their Women’s U19 T20 World Cup title in Malaysia.
Apart from securing player of the match award in the final, Gongadi Trisha also took home the player of the tournament award for his exceptional performances with the bat, ball, and in the field.
