On Saturday, April 26, the reverse fixture between defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, ended in a no result as rain played a spoilsport, cutting short KKR’s innings to 7/0 after one over at the Eden Gardens. For the unversed, PBKS skipper, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat first.

Riding on the back of PBKS openers, Priyansh Arya (69 off 35) and Prabhsimran Singh (83 off 49), they put up a competitive total of 201 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. While skipper Shreyas Iyer also chipped in with an unbeaten 16-ball 25, hoping to complete hat-trick of wins against their rivals in the IPL.

Prabhsimran Singh becomes highest uncapped run-getter for PBKS in IPL history

While the second innings was cut short due to heavy downpour in the City of Joy, the PBKS opener, Prabhsimran Singh etched several records with his 83-run knock. The right-handed batter managed to create history as an uncapped player. With 1048 runs for PBKS in the IPL, he became the first uncapped batter to score more than 1000 runs for the franchise.

However, he is 10th overall to score 1000 runs for the Punjab-based franchise in the cash-rich league. Furthermore, Prabhsimran also became the highest uncapped run-getter in the history of the franchise, going past Manan Vohra, who smashed 957 runs during his stint from IPL 2013 till 2017.
